Corporate matching gift programs occupy a somewhat ambivalent space in the fundraising world: many donors and nonprofits swear by them to maximize their donations, while others are completely unaware of their existence. However, when employed as a primary fundraising strategy, nonprofits can tap into the billions in unclaimed match revenue.
If you’ve never heard of matching gifts, here’s a breakdown: many companies offer to match charitable donations of certain sizes made by their employees through matching gift programs, drastically increasing the impact of their gift.
